Mixing and Mastering — (stereo)

I was thinking to mix and master my piece into stereo first cause I don’t have access to 8 channels at my home. Moreover, I would love to bring the audio files which are already being compressed to the performance lab for deep dynamic listening. I am not a big fan of reverb and delay personally and I try my best to put all the instruments at the same levels.

My favourite plugins were the same as last year:

Limiter Plug-in

  • 16-Band peak limiter
  • With look-ahead function for maximum loudness
  • Integrated linear phase equaliser
  • IDR Dither with noise shaping
  • Includes L3 Multimaximizer, L3 Ultramaximizer, L3-LL Multimaximizer and L3-LL Ultramaximizer

But for the sake of space, it still sounded very messy and too chaotic for my ears even though I dug myself into high-pitched sounds. To be honest, I must have some listening problems. There are certain levels of sounds and hz I could not hear which would be the reason I could not mix very well in headphones.

The worst and most difficult part for me was flexing the Zheng and flutes which were improvised by artists. It was just taking thousands of hundreds amount of times on fixing them into the right place without a metronome.

Flex Time—similar to what is often referred to as elastic audio in other applications—simplifies the process of editing the timing of notes, beats, and other events in audio regions. You can compress or expand the time between specified events in an audio region without the need for trimming, moving, nudging, or crossfading.

You can edit the timing of notes and beats in audio regions using flex markers. When you choose a Flex Time algorithm, the contents of the audio track are analyzed for transients, or significant peaks, and any detected transients are marked in the audio regions. You can add a flex marker at a specific part of the waveform you want to edit. After adding flex markers to an audio region, you use them to time stretch—compress or expand—the audio material. The initial boundaries within which this is done are determined by the transient markers.
