Week9-Sound for Spatialisation

We were working on a feedback sandwich this week which was really helpful for us to have critical feedback toward submission. I will record and upload the feedback here as follows:

My thinking*

I find Maria’s work is very clean and comfortable like I am in the tub and listening to the space surrounding me. I can feel the waves through the speakers and I really love the ambient sound from the strings. Though I am not a big fan of ASMR and micro sounds, I always found myself quite struggling with it. I enjoy the texture of the piece. After class she asks me for the umbrella sound which performs on my sound installation, I don’t know how she gonna apply it in her piece. But I feel glad.

On the contrary, James’s work is very scientific and a bit hurting for my years. His idea of the brain shape was very intensive and mathematical which I have no idea to figure out. The repetition of the waveforms sounds like wine glasses because we are only available to high frequency? I enjoy being there.

Tom always has braveness in his work and he always has very deep listening. I like his idea of recycled instruments but I also love speakers to be in my work, the more, the better.

I have gathered some feedback from my class sandwich and my friends:

put forward and put backward the “ZHENG”

put forward the density

Is multiplayer worth?

Any plans for live version?

it has cohesion and rain helps fill out the space!

A bit too much panning/ sometimes turn on one speaker only

needs a bit more warmth injected in

Violin is getting masked( I agree! I hate fake string)

Playful & dreamy western towards chinese version?

consideration of putting 启辰转合

too complicated

the piano solo part-do some cleaning
